Our Trip to LA!

With a quick three days in LA, we tried to see as much gorgeous design as we could, take in a little of their intoxicating vegetation, and of course, we popped-up at Midland Shop in Culver City!

Midland is even more beautiful in person and smells like vacation. We had so much fun setting up shop there for the day, alongside fellow Brooklyn-based shops Hazel Village and Les Gamins. It was great meeting new customers and seeing some dear friends.

A portion of the day's proceeds went to Families Belong Together. Our kids love their fundraising coloring book and it is one of our go-to gifts.

The smell of jasmine perfumed the air in LA. You could smell it everywhere, and we couldn't stop commenting on it! We took a windy-road trip to Topanga early one morning for a quick hike in Tuna Canyon in a dense fog. It was invigorating, and beautiful, and just a touch eerie.

After our pop-up, we took a tour of the Eames House, a Case Study House designed + lived in by Charles + Ray Eames. Everything inside is meticulously preserved from when they lived there from 1949-1988. Their collections are beautiful + so thoughtfully displayed, and the property is a gorgeous meadow that looks over the PCH at the Pacific Ocean. We highly recommend a visit! (Book tickets in advance.)

Chariots on Fire (above, left) in Venice is the exclusive US-distributor of Japanese artist Makoto Kagoshima and is such a beautifully curated shop. Across the street is Huset, the Scandinavian home store which has self-serve candy! Very Scandi–we were into it. Also in the area is the newly opened Rudy Jude–a sweet shop featuring all their natural dyed clothing for kids + adults. Another favorite stop in LA was Nickey Kehoe (above, right), an interiors shop that carries beautiful furniture (vintage and their own line), textiles and accessories for the home. Bird is a favorite from home, but their space in Culver City is big and gorgeous. The garden outside, the interior design–it was all such a beautiful experience.

Not one to miss out on local ice cream, Liz tried the red velvet cake flavor from Coolhaus. It was of course delicious. The day before, we ate amazing veggie dishes at Gjelina for lunch, and a great Italian dinner at Felix. The food is so good out there!

LA treated us so well! We'll be back soon!

xoxo
